ABOUT: The name Vesevo is the historic name for Vesuvius. The vineyards are located in the Irpinian hills of Campania which despite being so far south, have a large diurnal temperature difference, making the harvest here one of the latest in Italy.
Fruit for the Ensis was sourced from vineyards in Avellino that are over 100years old and at an altitude of 450-550m above sea level. This site benefits from a cool breeze blown in from the Bay of Naples. The soil here is volcanic with a clay and calcerous character.
Grape selection is scrutinous and once the grapes were de-stemmed and gently crushed, maceration took place for 20-25 days. Ageing took place in 225l French oak barriques for 16months before ageing continued in bottle prior to release.
