ABOUT: Fruit is taken from both winemaker Fiona Turner’s own vineyard in the Awatere Valley and from select vineyards in the Lower Wairau Valley. This gives the wine a rich depth of minerality from the gravelly silt of the Awatere to the more loamy soils of Wairau which add tropical fruit characters to the wine with great intensity and body.
The name Tinpot Hut links to Marlborough’s past as a sheep farming centre when huts were used as a base for the musterers as they rounded up the sheep that had been in the hills from spring to autumn.
Today Marlborough is one of the world’s most dynamic wine regions.
