ABOUT: Plantagenet is a region surrounding the town of Mount Barker in south west Australia and it is here that English migrant Tony Smith bought a farm and planted some vines in 1968. Tony’s Shiraz and Cabernet Sauvignon won many accolades very quickly. Many other grape varieties and blends followed suit and now Plantagenet has several brands in their portfolio. One of these is Three Lions, a very affordable yet high quality range of wines. For this blend parcels of Cabernet and Merlot were vinified separately then matured for 14months in French oak before being lightly fined and bottled. An absolutely delicious wine with great structure and complexity for the price.
