ABOUT: The name Isole e Elena comes from the purchase in 1950 of two adjoining estates, Isole and Olena. They were purchased by the Marchi family and combined to form one. The history of both estates dates back as far as the 12th century. Today the estate is run by Marla and Paolo de Marchi. Located in the heart of Chianti Classico the vines sit at an altitude of 400m and face south-west. The oldest vines were planted in 1958, the youngest in 2007. Oak maturation took place in a variety of oak vessels from 225litre barrels to 4000 and 2700 oak casks. The wine was aged in bottle for four months before being released.
