ABOUT: Created by chief winemaker from Cloudy Bay in 2009, since its inception this winery has gained international recognition and been integral to putting the Marlborough wine region well and truly on the global map. Named ‘Greywacke’ due to its high prevalence of rounded greywacke river stones in the soils, the fruit for this wine was sourced from prime vineyards in Marlborough’s Southern Valleys and Wairau Plains.

The grapes were harvested in the cool of night and lightly pressed to produce a modest volume of high quality juice. A portion of juice was placed in old oak barrels and allowed to under spontaneous fermentation whilst the majority underwent fermentation with cultured yeasts.

This is both a delicate Sauvignon and an aromatic one with great concentration of fruit and a very textural palate.
