ABOUT: The Haas family has grown grapes in Montagna in the province of Bolzano for generations. Franz, the current proprietor, goes to great lengths to produce wines infused with great character and that show a rare purity on the palate. If you think you know Pinot Grigio, think again!
Planted at an altitude of 750-900m above sea level, Franz feels the lower yields and longer growing season at such altitudes give the wines greater complexity and intensity.
After a cool fermentation in stainless steel tanks, with a small quantity in large oak casks, the wine was left for four months on its lees to give fuller body. A medium bodied but intense wine, it has a fresh palate and great finesse. This wine will develop beautifully over the next five years.
