Bodega Gorosti Flysch Txakolina 2020 £16

PAIR WITH: Great with seafood and white fish. Well chilled, its super as an aperitif on a hot Summer day.

  • Elorriaga (between Bilbao & San Sebastian), Basque Country, SPAIN
  • 100% Hondarribi Zuri
  • Spritzy and lively

STYLE: Lighter in alcohol with a slight froth to the rim. The nose of fresh citrus and wet rocks follows through on the palate with lime and a touch of briny sea spray. Although this wine is light in body, it has a deliciously long finish.

ABOUT: Fourth generation winemaker Juan Extabe first planted vineyards in the Basque Coast Geopark in 2008. He released his first vintage in 2011. The Geopark, which extends some 13km along the coast, is known for its unique rock formations called flysch which were formed under the sea some 60 million years ago.

The appellation of Getariako Txakolina is very humid so the vines are trained on 2metre high pergolas above the soil making it easier for the wind to blow in and dry the vines.
