Established in 1977, Sandys Fishmongers was a small family concern initially but now occupies a prominent position on Twickenham High Street and attracts customers from all corners of London and beyond. Meats
Sandys now has its own in-store butcher, who selects and prepares Beef, Lamb, Pork and Game into various popular cuts.
Only the best lean meats are selected, prepared and packed into read-to-buy packs, they are often in demand for their quality, price and presentation.
Sandys Beef has been hung for a minimum of 20 days by traditional methods, sometimes referred to as "Dry-Ageing" where the beef is hung on-the-bone in a temperature controlled environment. This process has the effect of removing excess moisture, drying slightly and giving a full beef flavour to ensure the meat is tender. Shrinkage during cooking is also minimized.
In addition to the large selection of meat cuts, Sandys has commissioned a selection of specially made Speciality Sausages.
With the minimum amount of additives, some of our sausages are Gluten Free and No Pork used too.

Party PlattersFor That Special occasion....Cooked and Dressed Salmon.All preparation is carried out in house, with many years of experience we have designed a service to suit you the individual to satisfy your particular needs. A general pricing guide.Cooked Only.The price of the raw fish plus £5.00, for Salmon up to 3.0Kg and £7.50 for Salmon over 3.00Kg in weight. This charge is for Boning, Poaching, and Skinning. After cooling the salmon it is garnished with lettuce or parsley on a platter.
Cooked and Dressed.The sizes start from a 2.0Kg Salmon to a massive 5.5Kg.The "all inclusive" price of £31.00 for the 2.0Kg salmon to £70.00 for the 5.5Kg Salmon. These prices include the cost of the fish, poaching, skinning, boning and dressing onto a platter. Peeled, sliced cucumber is laid over the body to retain the moisture in the pattern of fish scales. Sliced cucumber is placed covering the platter with grapes and lemon slices around the salmon, a line of grapes over the salmon. A vegetable bouquet to one side completes the presentation.An Organic option is also available.Please contact us for availability and pricing.Shellfish and Smoked Fish Platters.Either for a Dinner party or a Large party we can create the ideal centre piece, with a tailor made shellfish or smoked fish platter. Frequently asked questions....
Q. What is the best way to store my fish when I get home and how long will it keep fresh?
A. All our fish is fresh, that has never been frozen. it will keep for about 2 days if stored in the coldest part of your refrigerator, it is best to store it on a plate with another plate on top. Air-tight containers or cling film will not keep fish fresh. In warm weather remember to keep it cold when taking your fish home.
Q. How can i store my fish for longer without freezing it.
A. On request, we will "Vac-Pac" your fish, this method help extend the shelf life of your fish. The fish is placed in a special bag and the air is removed before being sealed.
Q. My recipe asks for fillets but i only see whole fish on display?
A. Sandys will prepare your fish for you free of charge, just how your recipe calls for.
Q. Can I freeze my fish?
A. Yes, All of our fresh fish has never been frozen, see your freezer's guide for how long it will stay frozen.
Q. How often does your fish come into stock?
A. Almost every day. either from Billingsgate Market in London or directly from the coasts of the UK.
Q. Can i place an order through your website and have it delivered.
A. Currently we are unable to offer a delivery service but you can place an order via telephone and collect from the shop.
Q.What is the best way to cook fish?
A. Our staff can recommend a suitable method or try a recipe from our recipe database on our recipe page.
Q. I came into your shop an hour before you closed but there was no fish on display, although the salesman was helpful and got the fish I wanted out of the fridge for me, why was this?
A. We are committed to hygiene, our cleaning procedure takes about 1.5 hours to complete. The fish has to be removed before we can clean & rinse thoroughly every display container and counter. Afterwards the floors and scrubbed with bleach and rinsed. Our staff will continue to serve whilst we clean.

At Sandys we have selected a range of splendid poultry products. Our Premium Fully Free-Range chickens are farm reared on Temple Farm, Harlow, Essex.Label Anglais Chicken was introduced in the 1990’s and is acclaimed by many experts as the finest chicken produced in the UK, it is served in many top restaurants.
There are no short cuts or modern methods in the way Label Anglais raise their chickens. They start off with a special breed based on two old British breeds, Red Cornish and White Rock. Because of their heritage, they are suited to our climate, and thrive in their free range pastures. Their breeding also means they are much slower growing than modern chicken, which gives the meat longer to develop a good texture. And, unlike most other chicken, they are grown to full maturity – all those extra weeks scratching around the fields and hedgerows helps bring out a fuller, more satisfying flavour in the meat.

* Fed no antibiotics * No artificial additive or colourings.
Special Reserve Chicken, A combination of the best of the old with the best of the new. The breed is developed from the same female line as Label Anglais, but carries more breast meat, of a paler colour, than Label Anglais.
Raised fully free-range from five weeks, fed a natural diet, and grown slowly to full maturity.
The meat has a more delicate flavour and excellent texture.
Banham Chickens are raised on farms in Norfolk by a traditional family run, self contained business in Norfolk, which farms Barn Reared English Chickens (the company began in the village of “Banham” in 1959).
No added water or growth hormones are used.
We offer these birds in whole oven ready form and portions, legs, thighs and drum sticks.
Poulet Noir, A French black footed and feathered breed of chicken is renowned for its fabulous flavour. are France’s finest. Specially bred, these free-range birds are farmed using traditional methods and fed on natural diets.

Game
At Sandys, we aim to source game from within the United Kingdom, using fresh Free-Range supplies wherever possible. As game is seasonal and fresh may not always be readily available, sometime it might be better to give us a day or twos notice. We do carry a limited stock of frozen game.Rabbits, Venison and Pheasants when in season are available fresh. Frozen varieties are available throughout the year.Due to its scarcity, Wild Boar is by pre-order only. Our in-store butcher will be delighted to prepare your game to your specifications.Cheese
